Shellac and Forest Products Export Promotion Council (SHEFEXIL)

The Shellac and Forest Products Export Promotion Council (SHEFEXIL) is an autonomous Export Promotion Council established in 1957 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Originally founded as the Shellac Export Promotion Council (SEPC) to promote exports of shellac and lac-based products, it was renamed SHEFEXIL in 2005 after being designated as the nodal Export Promotion Council for Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) and their value-added products. In 2007, SHEFEXIL was also appointed as the nodal EPC for exports from India's North Eastern Region.

Today, SHEFEXIL represents a broad range of export sectors, supporting Indian exporters through market development, trade promotion, policy advocacy, international exhibitions, buyer-seller meets, export facilitation, and capacity-building initiatives. The council plays a significant role in promoting sustainable exports while supporting rural communities, tribal producers, and forest-based industries.
